Royal Queensland Art Society
Across the road from our holiday accommodation on Broadbeach Boulevard, you’ll find the Royal Queensland Art Society just opposite the beach. View breathtaking artworks on display created by talented local artists with free admission to the gallery, and you can purchase a piece if you find one that tickles your fancy.
They also offer a selection of workshops including acrylic, oil, and watercolour painting, plus drawing, plus children’s art classes. Open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, and on the weekends from 9 am to 5 pm.
Broadbeach Bowls Club
Home of the Broadbeach Bulls, the Broadbeach Bowls Club is just across the road from our accommodation, on Armrick Avenue. You can enjoy a fun game of barefoot bowls with your friends or family any day of the week from 9 am to 9 pm, at just $10 per person for a two-hour session.
If great pub food and a couple of drinks with friendly service sounds appealing, then Broadbeach Bowls Club is the place to be. With live entertainment from 7:30 pm, APL Poker, and a fantastic Sunday session where you can relax to live music from 3 pm to 6 pm, there’s a lot to like about spending a few hours at this fantastic local watering hole.
Cascade Gardens
A couple of streets back from Oceana on Broadbeach you will find Cascade Gardens, a family-friendly park located along the Nerang River. It’s a favourite spot for picnics, barbeques, and with a big playground including a wheelchair friendly swing, you can wear out the kids in no time. There are tranquil rainforest walks for you to enjoy, as well as the Kokoda Memorial Walk extending down the river towards the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It is also home to the Queensland Korean War Memorial, where you can view 10 commemorative murals depicting the struggles and sacrifices of the Australian veterans of the navy, army and air force. An Australian Korean War era soldier statue can be viewed at the site, as well as informational plaques and Australian, Republic of Korea and United Nations flags on display.
Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre
The GCCEC is a premier Gold Coast venue for experiencing concerts, exhibitions, conventions, and sporting events just 500m from the beach. With upcoming events including Carl Baron: Skating Rink for Flies and Eurovision: Australia Decides 2022 coming up, you won’t want to miss visiting the Gold Coast in the coming months. Just across the walkway is The Star Gold Coast offering an impressive selection of bars, restaurants, and entertainment.
Dracula’s Cabaret
Just a little further south you can stroll over to Dracula’s Cabaret for some serious thrills and entertainment. Comedy, singing, dancing, cirque, burlesque, aerial performances, and incredible costumes and charismatic entertainers make for a seriously spooky experience. Doors open from 7:30 pm for the main show, or Drax4Kids is on from 12-2pm on Saturdays.
Grab tickets for the MA15+ Muertos show paying tribute to the Mexican Day of the Dead, boasting carnival acts, death-defying stunts, flamenco, and aerial acrobatics. The new show Sanctuary kicks off from February 16th 2022, where you’ll meet the resident psychopaths, and be entertained by vampires and the criminally insane.
Pacific Fair Shopping Centre
A spot of retail therapy isn’t far away with Pacific Fair Shopping Centre directly opposite Dracula’s Cabaret. Redeveloped in 2018 prior to the Commonwealth Games, it was extended by 50,000sqm and boasts luxury and high-end retail stores, bars, incredible dining venues, over 400 specialty stores.
The resort-style entertainment precinct is world of fun, with free yoga every Sunday. Play Street offers an indoor play centre that kids will adore. You can also head to Event Cinemas for a Gold Class experience or enjoy the Gold Coast’s first 4DX Cinema.
Kurrawa Beach
Heading back across the Gold Coast highway you’ll come to Kurrawa Beach and Pratten Park playground. This lifeguard patrolled stretch of beach is a favourite for locals and visitors alike. Enjoy a surf, a swim, or just soak up some sunshine. Families will be seriously impressed by the multizone playground at the park, with giant slides, swings, flying fox, sandpits, rides, and shady picnic spots.
When you’ve had your fill of fun in the sun, you can over to the Oasis Shopping Centre and surrounding laneways and streets filled with trendy cafe’s, boutique shops, and live entertainment. Home the Blues on Broadbeach, and Groundwater Country Music Festival, if you time your stay correctly you’ll find the streets of Broadbeach transformed into an exciting world of music and entertainment.
